Palette Extraction
Palette Extraction lets Zenboard analyze an image card and generate a compact set of dominant colors.
This is useful when you already collected an image and want to convert it into a reusable color reference.
How to Use It
- open an image card in Smart Viewer
- click the palette extraction button in the toolbar
- review the extracted color tray
- copy any individual color or save the full set as a new palette card
What the Extraction Tray Does
The extraction tray gives you a quick intermediate step before saving.
From the tray, you can:
- preview the extracted colors
- copy a single color immediately
- save the entire extracted set as a Palette Card
When to Use It
Palette Extraction works especially well for:
- screenshots of apps or websites
- photography references
- illustrations and keyframes
- moodboards with a clear color direction
- imported assets you want to translate into a working palette
Best Paired With
- Image Cards when starting from a visual reference
- Smart Viewer when inspecting the result
- Color Picker when you want to manually refine the extracted palette with additional sampled colors
