Ghost Mode
Ghost Mode turns Zenboard into a transparent overlay that floats on top of all other apps. You can adjust the opacity and clicks pass right through, allowing you to interact with the app underneath. This is one of Zenboard’s core features — view references while working, without ever switching windows.
Enable / Disable
Press Cmd + Shift + G or click the Ghost Mode button in the toolbar.
- Enable — Zenboard becomes semi-transparent and click-through
- Disable — Press
Cmd + Shift + Gagain, or click outside the canvas area
Opacity Control
| Action | Control |
|---|---|
| Adjust opacity | Shift + mouse wheel |
| Adjust opacity | Shift + left-click vertical drag |
Opacity ranges from 0.1 (nearly transparent) to 1.0 (fully opaque). Find the right balance where you can see both your work and your references simultaneously.
Use Cases
Designers
Overlay reference images at 50% opacity while designing UI in Figma. You can see the reference and directly click and interact with Figma at the same time.
Developers
Float API documentation or design specs on top of your code editor. Reference the docs while coding without switching windows.
Illustrators / 3D Artists
Overlay anatomy references or color palettes on top of your drawing app to reference them without switching windows.
Scope
Ghost Mode is available in both the Canvas and Smart Viewer. Each has its own independent opacity setting.
