Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 28, 2026
1. Introduction
Zenboard ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our macOS application and website.
2. Data Collection and Storage
Local Data Processing: Zenboard is designed with privacy as a core principle. All your content, including images, videos, and texts, is stored and processed locally on your device. We do not collect, access, or transmit your personal files or content to our servers.
No Personal Data Collection: We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, IP address, or any other identifying information.
3. Analytics and Usage Data
To help us improve Zenboard, we collect anonymous usage statistics through TelemetryDeck. This data helps us understand which features are most used and identify potential bugs without ever knowing who you are.
- No Tracking: We do not use persistent identifiers, cookies, or fingerprinting to track you across different days or websites.
- Anonymous Actions: We track events like "app launched", "image captured", or "feature used".
- Technical Info: We collect non-identifying info like app version, macOS version, and CPU architecture (Intel or Apple Silicon).
All telemetry data is hashed on your device before being sent, ensuring it remains completely anonymous and cannot be traced back to you.
4. File Access and Permissions
Zenboard requires access to your files only for the purpose of organizing and displaying content you explicitly choose to add to the application. This access is limited to:
- Reading files you add to Zenboard
- Storing references to file locations
- Generating thumbnails for display purposes
All file processing happens locally on your device. Files are never uploaded to external servers.
5. Third-Party Services
Zenboard uses TelemetryDeck for anonymous analytics and Sparkle for software update checks. These services do not collect any personal data or content. Apart from these, the application operates entirely offline.
6. Data Security
Since all data is stored locally on your device, your data security is primarily dependent on your device's security measures. We recommend:
- Using macOS FileVault encryption
- Keeping your operating system updated
- Using strong device passwords
- Regular backups of your data
7. Updates and Notifications
Zenboard may check for software updates to ensure you have the latest features and security improvements. This check only transmits the current version number and does not include any personal data or usage information.
8. Children's Privacy
Zenboard does not collect any data from users, including children under 13. Since the application processes all data locally, we have no access to user information regardless of age.
9. Your Rights
Since we do not collect or store your data, you maintain complete control over your information. You can:
- Delete any content from Zenboard at any time
- Uninstall the application to remove all associated data
- Export your data by accessing your local file system
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
